Meet your massage therapist: Cate Zecher, LMT

Cate Zecher (she/her) is the newest member of Team Turning Pointe and we are beyond lucky to have her!

A licensed massage therapist, yoga teacher, and Matwork pilates instructor with degrees in Kinesiology, Public Health, and Nutrition, Cate has a wealth of experience and education to share with her patients.

Cate has been practicing massage and manual therapy since 2019. Her path into therapeutic work began unexpectedly at age 18 while studying theology in Germany, where she first developed a deep appreciation for holistic healing and the mind-body connection.

Check out her full bio here and continue reading below to get to know a little more about her!

Q: How did you end up in the bodywork field and what is important to you about providing this service to your community?

A: I’ve always wanted to find a career to help others and I fell in love with the intricacies of the human body at a young age.

My main goal is to offer a safe space for everybody and to deepen a nurturing awareness with every body I work with.

Q: What is one of the most valuable teachings you received during your training?

One of the most valuable teachings I have received is to ground myself whenever I can. If I can adequately and lovingly care for myself, then I strengthen my ability to care for others.

Q: How has your approach or style changed throughout your years of practice?

My approach adjusts with each individual who walks into the treatment room. From a student athlete preparing for their next event to an expecting mom, to a post-injury retiree desiring to walk without a cane —they all can benefit from therapeutic touch.

Sometimes the hardest part, for anyone, is to give themselves permission to rest. I help people help themselves.

Q: Why should someone consider adding massage therapy to their health and wellness routine?

A: Massage therapy isn’t only a physical intervention for one’s health, consistent bodywork enhances every other part of life. From decreasing muscle tension and improving blood circulation to stress relief and improving sleep quality, massage is highly beneficial to anyone’s wellness routine!

Q: What can a new patient expect in their first appointment with you?

Patients can expect a supportive space with their health as the top priority. They can think of me as the mediator between their mind and body to help build trust and understanding with themselves.

Q: What's your favorite way to spend a Saturday? How do you fill your cup?

When energy allows, my ideal Saturday would include some type of movement like a hike somewhere in the trees near a body of water, a meal with loved ones and lots of laughter. I like adventure and people to share it with. A really good nap helps too!
